Your compassion gives young people what they need most: genuine care and real opportunities to thrive.

Every year in America, over 20,000 young people age out of foster care without the family connections or resources they need to succeed independently.¹ On a single night in January 2024, 38,170 unaccompanied youth experienced homelessness in the United States² , and in many communities, 15.1 million children return home to empty houses with no adult supervision after school.³

But in communities across the Eastern United States, your kindness is changing that story.

Through Salvation Army youth programs, your love reached 650,000 young people last year. In after-school centers, summer camps, transitional housing, and mentoring programs, you've provided the foundation young people need to discover their potential.

Your generosity creates safe spaces where teenagers can complete their education, develop job skills, and build healthy relationships. When a young person aging out of foster care finds stable housing through our programs, that's your caring heart at work. When a child struggling academically discovers confidence through tutoring and encouragement, that's your love making the difference.

Research from Learning Point Associates shows that after-school participants demonstrate 13% improvement in math and reading scores. The Corporation for National and Community Service reports that mentoring relationships increase high school graduation rates by 37% among at-risk youth.

A gift of $50 helps to provide one child with a full month of after-school programming, including homework help, mentoring, and nutritious snacks. That's four weeks of safety, growth, and hope in a young life.
